Most European countries have stopped requiring masks on planes. Germany was one of the few countries that was not an exception.

The requirement to wear masks on planes is expected to be removed from Germany. In the event that there is a significant increase in cases, the German Health Minister will have the power to impose a mask requirement on planes.

This hasn't been officially announced yet, but is being reported in German media as politicians leak the new agreement. At some point this week, the requirement will be removed.

Passengers have to wear masks on flights to and from Germany, no matter the airline. masks haven't been required at German airports for several months now since it seems there's a higher risk in a crowded and poorly ventilated airport than sitting in the same place on a well ventilated plane

Germany is dropping mask requirements for planes

This is a major change in policy for Germany

Germany has had an airplane mask mandate for a long time, but in late August the German Chancellor approved new coronaviruses measures for fall and winter. Extending the airplane mask mandate was part of this.

Germany was expected to tighten rules regarding masks on planes. Germany was going to require N95-style masks as of October 2022. If you want to make people wear masks, make them wear masks that work.

Germany is expected to see an increase in cases of coronaviruses this winter. The German public is fed up with restrictions and is wondering where the light is at the end of the tunnel masks on airplanes aren't part of the plan anymore

You’ll soon be able to fly Lufthansa without a mask

Bottom line

As of later this week, Germany is expected to no longer require masks on flights. The Health Minister will be able to add back these restrictions in the future.

One of the few countries in Europe that still requires masks on planes is Germany.
