After being away from the show for a long time, Kelly is back in it. Kelly paid homage to the show on Sunday. It was 20 years ago today that I won American IDOL. I will be thankful for all of my days because of that moment in time. Kelly's status as a star was solidified when she won the competition in the first season. She kept going on. The family and friends I have created over the past two decades in music and TV are priceless to me. We only get so many trips around the sun and while I am proud and feel blessed of the successes and failures that I have learned from, I am most thankful for those friends that have become my family, and for their arms that have held me when I needed it. I wouldn't be where I am without them. I don't think I'd be here at all. Kelly didn't want to be connected to the show because she didn't want people to think of her as a contestant, according to reports. She has embraced the show for the last few years.
