President Zelenskyy said on Sunday that Ukrainian forces had regained control of three settlements in the east and south.

Zelenskyy didn't say where the reported gains were located. He said that there were two settlements in the south of the country as well as one in the east.

According to CNN, more than a dozen targets were hit in the southern region of Kherson on Sunday.

Since the beginning of the invasion in February, President Putin's forces have taken over territory. The counter-offensive started at the end of August.

Insider couldn't confirm Zelenskyy's report. On Monday, the UK Ministry of Defense released a map showing possible Ukrainian advances.

There was no indication of an advancement in the east.

For the past eight years, Russian forces have been attacking Ukraine in the eastern part of the country.

The "Donetsk People's Republic" was officially recognized by Putin on February 22 this year. The west and the UN still consider it Ukrainian territory.

Early in Putin's invasion, the south of Ukraine faced a brutal onslaught in an attempt to connect Russian-annexed Crimea to the southern port of Odessa. Russian forces have wreaked havoc on cities such as Kherson and Mariupol.

Zelenskyy said that the war would end with the retaking of the peninsula. He said that the place would be one of the best in Europe.

He repeated his request for Europe to impose a visa ban on Russian tourists and spoke with the president of the European Commission.

Zelenskyy said that Europe is a land of values.
