Variety reported that the account had more than 6,000 posts when it was taken down.

It is not clear why the account was taken down, but it is clear that it did not post pornography to the platform.

The account was taken down after a report was filed on June 1.

The report doesn't provide any information on the policies violated, when they were violated or what content prompted the platform to act.

Forbes asked Meta and Pornhub if they had something to say.

Tech giants are taking action against porn sites. Pornhub has 3.4 million followers and 882,000 subscribers on the social media sites. Forbes reached out to the two companies for comments.

Key Background

There is growing pressure on tech platforms to act against illegal content online. Material like child pornography, graphic deepfakes and revenge porn has grown in recent years as sites try to rein in violent, misleading and false content. Firms have begun to step up efforts to clean up their platforms with measures that include banning accounts and stopping hosting sites. Platforms have yet to resolve the problem. Two of the company's top executives left over the issue of illegal content on the site. OnlyFans, the most popular adult creator site, has a hard time preventing underaged users from selling or appearing in explicit videos. According to an investigation by the Verge, executives at the social network are aware of the huge investment needed to remove illegal content, but are taking few steps to do so. Visa has been accused of facilitating the spread of child pornography on PornHub as part of a lawsuit against the site's parent, MindGeek.

Former contractors told Forbes that TikTok's content moderators are trained to look at sexually explicit images of children. The material, along with other content deemed to violate the platform's policies, was freely available to hundreds of people.
