The Arizona Diamondbacks won their sixth consecutive game on Sunday, thanks in part to the sixth consecutive blanking of the Milwaukee Brewers by the team's starting pitcher.

His streak of not giving up a point was extended to 41 1/3innings. He gave up two singles and a walk in seven strong frames. He struck out seven and didn't allow a hit the rest of the way.

Gallen struck out the side in the fifth and didn't allow more than one baserunner in any period.

The Diamondbacks were able to score in the second quarter against Alexander when they got on the board with a single from Kelly. The sacrifice fly was the reason for the score. The home run was in the third.

Jake McCarthy hit a broken-bat single to right in the fifth to score Josh Rojas and give Arizona a three-run lead. McCarthy's seventh home run of the season came in the eighth off Suter.

Alexander, who made his major league debut earlier this year, pitched for Milwaukee. He gave up five hits, three runs, and four walks.

Hunter Renfroe hit a home run off Mark Melancon in the ninth. Nelson didn't pitch in the eighth.

The Brewers started the day 2 1/2 games behind Philadelphia for the final NL wild card. They trail St. Louis in the race. Milwaukee has made the playoffs for five consecutive years.
