A series of stabbings at an Indigenous community and at another town nearby in the Canadian province ofSaskatchewan left 10 people dead and 15 wounded, Canadian police said Sunday.

Police said the stabbings happened in multiple locations on the James Smith Cree Nation.

Some of the victims may have been targeted by the suspects but others may have been attacked randomly. She wasn't able to give a reason.

Blackmore said it was "horrifying" what had happened in the province.

There are at least 13 crime scenes where people have died or been injured. The suspects should turn themselves in.

Blackmore said police received reports of people being stabbed before 6 a.m. Police warned the public that a vehicle carrying the two suspects had been spotted in the city.

According to police, the last information they had was that the suspects were seen in the capital city of the province. Since then, there have been many reports.

Take precautions if you're in theRegina area. Leave a secure location. Don't try to get suspicious people. Hitch hikers don't need to be picked up. It's a good idea to report suspicious people or emergencies to the emergency number. The Mounties said in a message that they don't want people to know where the police are.

An 89-year-old woman and her daughter thought they saw one of the suspects when a car came barreling down their street early in the morning. Lees said a man came to them and said he was in need of help.

Lees said the man ran after her daughter called for help.

His face wouldn't be shown. He had a large jacket on. He mumbled his name twice when we asked him his name. He said he couldn't show his injuries.

The man was by himself and a little wobbly.

I followed him to make sure he was okay. My daughter told me not to follow him.

Diane Shier said she saw emergency crews a couple of blocks away when she was in her garden.

She said her neighbor was dead. She wanted to honor the victim's family.

She said that she lost a good neighbor.

The search for suspects was carried out as fans descended on Regina for a sold out annual Labor Day game between the Canadian Football League's Saskatchewan Rough Riders and the Blue Bombers.

The police service said in a news release that it had deployed additional resources for public safety throughout the city and that it was working on several fronts to locate and arrest the suspects.

The alert was first issued by Melfort at 7 a.m. and was extended hours later to cover other provinces.

The descriptions of the two men were five feet seven inches tall and 155 pounds, and six feet one and 200 pounds, respectively. They may be driving a black vehicle.

Multiple patients were being treated by the health authority.

Anne Linemann said in an email that there was a call for more staff.

Mark Oddan is a spokesman for the STARS Air Ambulance.

He said three patients were carried from a hospital in Melfort to the Royal University Hospital in SASKATCHEWAN.

The attacks inSaskatchewan are terrible. I am thinking of people who have died and people who have been injured.

Everyone is urged to follow updates from local authorities. Thank you to the first responders for their bravery.

A state of emergency has been declared.
