On Face the Nation, Rep. Jamie Raskin said that the house investigative committee hopes to have Mike Pence testify voluntarily but may consider legal force to compel him to talk about the Capitol attack.
The Senate was presiding over the certification of the 2020 election results when the siege against the Capitol began.
The plan was to get Pence to step outside his constitutional role and then to declare lawless powers to reject Electoral College votes from the states. I would hope that he would come forward and testify about what happened.
When asked how likely it would be that he would come forward, Raskin said that he was the target of Donald Trump's fury and attempt to overthrow the election.
The former vice president hid 40 feet away from the rioters as he was being yelled at. The security detail for Pence called their loved ones to say goodbye because they were afraid that the mob would kill them.
The committee is trying to get everyone to come forward voluntarily, but investigators may consider testimony from witnesses like Pence.
No one's case is out of question. I think he's going to come forward and testify, like most people have done.
The Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol did not respond to Insider's request for comment.
He said last month that he would consider testifying if there was an invitation to participate.
