  • Parler's mobile app on Android is available to download again from the Google Play Store.
  • Last year, the app was removed from the store following the U.S. Capitol insurgency.
  • Parler has implemented stricter content moderation policies to justify its return to the Play Store.

The Parler app was kicked out of the Play Store a year ago, but is now back on the platform.

According to The New York Times, Parler has made drastic changes to its app in order to comply with the policies of the internet giant. In January of last year, it was removed from the Play Store.

Parler was used for the planning and coordinating of the Capitol storming. The app was removed from both the Play Store and Apple App Store because it lacked policies to moderate and remove objectionable content.

A company representative told the Times that the company will take down some content. The publication was told by Parler's chief marketing officer that it will hide content that is unsafe for work and promote hate speech.

"While Parler believes the best way to address the problems of hate and divisiveness in today's culture is to allow more speech, not less, we are still happy to do business with those who think differently, on the terms on which we do agree," he said. Those who want to see Parler may always do so in the browser at Parler.com.

A spokesman for the company confirmed Parler's return to the Play Store in a statement to the website.

If an app complies with Play's developer policies, it will appear on the Play store. All apps that feature User Generated Content are required to implement robust moderation practices that prohibit objectionable content, provide an in-app system for reporting objectionable UGC, and remove or block abusive users who violate the app's.

Donald Trump's Truth Social is not currently available on the Play Store. The main reason Truth Social isn't on Android is its lack of moderation, according to a spokesman for the search engine.
