Rapid Reaction

This is the first thing. The Man United ended the winning run of the other team.

It was hard to imagine Manchester United would win their next four games, but they have done just that. Antony's debut goal was the result of the Dutchman's decision to start him and he was also rewarded for keeping faith with Marcus.

Mikel Arteta will have to pick up his players after a first defeat of the season because Man United were better in the crucial moments. The fact that Man United could start September by moving to within two points of Manchester City is amazing. A strong end to the transfer window has given Ten Hag's team a boost, and they are in good shape before the international break.

If they string a few more wins together, they will start to be talked about as a title contender. It happened to United after they won four games in a row for the first time in more than two years.

There are two Antony made a difference.

Antony already looks like he can handle the pressure of being a big-money signing at Manchester United.

The winger, signed for 100m from Ajax on deadline day, only took 35 minutes to announce himself to Old United with a goal.

Antony celebrated in front of the away fans with the ball up his shirt and his thumb in his mouth after he was jeered by the fans in the corner of the stadium. If nothing else, it showed that the 22-year-old is not going to shrink under the spotlight.

He has been brought to United because of his character. After becoming the club's second most expensive signing of all time, Antony wasted no time in showing that he is worth the money, as he tried to chip the keeper from 35 yards.

He will bring a bit of bite to Ten Hag's team.

There are three. Even though they are frustrated, they are moving in the right direction.

Arteta can take a lot of positives despite the fact that their winning run came to an end at Old United.

His team were in control for large parts of the game and it was only because Man United were more clinical in front of goal that they lost.

Arteta will be concerned that the first real test of the season has ended in defeat but he will also be aware that his players could have earned a point. The title debate has arisen because of the impressive start of the team.

After narrowly missing out on the European Championship at the end of last season, they want to qualify for the group stages this time around. Arteta won't be discouraged despite the fact that the team came off second best.
