The circumstances surrounding the crash of the private jet are unusual.

There is an incident involving a 42 year old plane. A private jet registered in Austria was supposed to fly from Jerez, Spain to Cologne, Germany. The plane was on the ground in Jerez for eight days after it flew from Cologne to Jerez.

The flight would normally take two hours to complete, but it took just over an hour to take off.

After leaving Spain, the plane flew over France, Luxembourg, and Belgium. Air traffic controllers lost contact with the pilots of the plane in German airspace. The plane flew over the Baltic Sea rather than land in Cologne.

Fighter jets were dispatched to check on the plane and saw no movement. The plane crashed in the Baltic Sea after running out of fuel and being in the air for 4 hours and 51 minutes. The plane was not far away from Ventspils.

The plane is being searched and rescued.

What a sad situation

What comes out of search and rescue efforts will be seen. My thoughts are with the people on board and their families.

It's too early to know what happened and it's not worth speculating. The only clues we have so far are the fact that the plane just flew in a straight course after losing contact, and the fact that a fighter jet wasn't able to see the pilots.

Bottom line

The plane crashed in the Baltic Sea after overflying its destination and not having any contact with air traffic controllers. There are rescue efforts underway. It's sad...

There is a tip to Klaus.
