Fans were hoping that Dylan Cease could complete the no-hitter.

The ace wanted nothing more than to deliver. His bid ended a bit short.

Cease was within one out of his first career no-hitter, as the Chicago White Bears beat the Minnesota Twins 13-0 on Saturday.

Cease received a big applause when he came out to start the ninth. He retired Gilberto Celestino on a fly to center after fans stood and he struck out the other two hitters.

Cease's bid for Chicago's third no-hitter in as many years ended when Luis Arraez hit a line-drive single into right center. Carlos Rodn did it against Cleveland on April 14, 2021.

Cease said it'sDisappointing. That is the game.

Cease struck out Kyle Garlick in the ninth to complete his first career complete game. He pitched a seven-inning no-hitter against Detroit.

Ceased walked off and his teammates lined up outside the locker room. The fans were chanting "Cease! He was showered with more cheers as he left.

Cease thought it would have meant a lot. It's not easy to achieve. It would have meant a great deal.

Cease didn't think he had his best stuff in the beginning. He had seven strikeouts in the game, but only struck out one in the first five frames. The right-handed pitcher threw a total of 103 pitches.

Jake Cave and Celestino were the only other base runners in Minnesota. Cave was erased when Garynchez hit the ball. Cease struck out Arraez, stranding him.

The catcher thought about a no-hitter in the third.

He began to count outs. I thought we had something going on.

The person who broke up the bid was Arraez.

He said that he was the perfect person to break a no-hitter. That was the perfect person for that.
