Two illegally built skyscraper apartments were blown up by Indian authorities.

The biggest building to be destroyed in India was the twin apartment buildings in the suburb of Noida.

The two structures were brought down with 10 seconds and 8,100 pounds of explosives.

Last year, the Supreme Court ordered the demolition. According to the news agency, the towers were found to be in violation of building regulations.

A quarter of the cost of the demolition will be paid by Supertech.

People living in nearby homes were told to leave ahead of the blasts.

Each apartment costs around 141,000 dollars. If all the apartments were sold, Supertech would have made about $150 million.

Supertech said in a statement that the building plans of the project were approved by the authority in 2009, which was in line with the bye-laws of the state government.

The order of the Honorable Supreme Court won't affect any other ongoing project and we are committed to complete construction and deliver the flats to the allottees as per the schedule time.
