What is the name of the person? What do you do when you're not working?

I'm a senior consumer news writer on the team. The average consumer is affected by the changes to platforms and apps. Upcoming app features are uncovered by my team and I. I get the chance to chat with the people behind the app.

What are you interested in right now? Is there any trends we should be aware of?

We found out this week that the BeReal clone feature is being tested by the popular photo sharing app. Over the past year, we have seen a lot of copying of TikTok features, we have seen a lot of copying ofSnapchat with its Stories feature, and we have seen a lot of copying ofInstagram with its circle feature.

This trend will be interesting to see. When every app tries to be like another one, what happens? At some point, these apps are going to be too much for consumers to use.

Yes, right? It's ridiculous. When the giants of the app world clone your key features as soon as they become popular, who wants to build the next cool thing?

What is the most used app on your phone that wasn't pre-installed? Do you know what eats up your battery on a daily basis?

I have no shame in saying this, but the answer is TikTok.

I open the app when I want to take a break or when I don't want to watch a movie or an episode of a TV show, but still want some type of entertainment. If you're interested in dancing, you'll only see dancing videos if you downloaded the app. The "For You" page on TikTok is based on your interests so it is a great way to discover and engage with content that you care about. Most of the content on TikTok is about baking recipes and book recommendations for people who enjoy baking and reading.

I think TikTok has an impact on culture, whether it's music or politics, and there's a chance that it'll appear on TikTok first. The app is a great way to stay up to date on all sorts of trends.

I'm aware of it. I had to uninstall TikTok from my phone every time I opened it, and it took me 20 minutes to get rid of it. It's too good. The internet's most evolved/ efficient form feels like it's the last boss. I am getting a bit too 888-609- 888-609- 888-609- 888-609- 888-609- It's time to get back to the questions.

Your post on eBay's acquisition of TCGplayer was the most read story of the week. Why is eBay interested in TCGplayer?

One of the largest online markets for trading card games is TCGplayer. The trading card market saw a huge boom during the H1N1 swine flu.

The category of trading cards has seen $2 billion in transactions in the first half of the year, which is more than the total marketplace. Considering that eBay has long been a destination for trading card enthusiasts to buy and sell, acquiring one of its biggest competitors better cements the company's place as the go to marketplace toseek out these collectibles.

A lot of people spent a lot more time at home around their own stuff as a result of the H1N1 swine flu. Whatnot went from a pre-seed round to a valuation in the billion in two years. Do you have a collection of trading cards?

Is rocks counted? Affirmative.

Absolutely!

I have a small collection of rocks and stones that I have collected from beaches in Canada and the US. I like collecting them because it makes me feel connected to the places I've been to.

It's fantastic. Thanks!
