Lucas Paqueta: West Ham set to sign Lyon and Brazil midfielder for £36.5m

A deal for Lucas Paqueta is close to being completed.

The 25-year-old is due to have a medical on Sunday before he completes his switch from Lyon.

If the add-ons are triggered, the deal for Paqueta would become a club record for West Ham.

AC Milan's Paqueta will join Lyon in 2020 for 20 million euros.

He is expected to play in the World Cup.

Paqueta had nine goals and six assists in 35 appearances in the French league.

He scored seven times in 33 games for Brazil and played for Lyon against West Ham in last season'sEuropa League quarter-final, which the Hammers won 4-1 on aggregate.

In 80 appearances for Lyon, he has scored 21 times and provided 14 assists.

Although Paqueta would be the club's eighth signing of the summer, David Moyes spoke this week about the difficulties he has encountered in signing players this summer.
