A judge indicated on Saturday that she is likely to grant Donald Trump's request to have a court-appointed outsider conduct the review of documents seized by the Justice Department.
US District Court Judge Cannon wrote in a brief order that her intent to appoint a special master should not be misconstrued.
Cannon, who was appointed by Trump, ordered the Justice Department to provide a more detailed list of the items recovered from Trump's Florida residence during the search and information about the status of the current reviews.
Cannon asked Trump's team to respond to the Justice Department's new detailed list of seized materials and to explain their expectations for a special master in the case. There will be a hearing on Thursday.
Trump wants the court to block the Justice Department's review of the documents or appoint a special master to protect the integrity of the documents.
The judge did not address accusations in the lawsuit that the Justice Department treated him unfairly.
The FBI seized boxes of materials during a search of Mar-a-Lago. The Justice Department is looking into the matter.
