The university banned a fan who yelled a racial slur at a black player at a volleyball game.

The fan who sat in the student section was not a student and has been banned from all athletic venues.

We won't tolerate this type of behavior. The statement said that the use of a racial slur at any of the athletic events is intolerable. We apologized to Duke University and its student-athletes for what they went through. There is no place for this type of behavior in our venues and we want a safe environment for all.

The player, Rachel Richardson, who is the only Black starter on the team, was called a racial slur every time she served.

"For far too long, individuals have been subjected to racist slurs, taunts, and threats like the unfortunate incident that happened to my goddaughter, Rachel Richardson, at Brigham Young University." Pamplin is a candidate for a circuit court judge in Fort Worth, Texas.

The statement went on to say that "every American should be enraged that a young lady was subjected to degrading language, and we should be even more enraged that it took a social media post from me in Tarrant County, Texas, to bring this incident to light."

Richardson was told to watch the team bus by a white man. There was a police officer on the bench.

Richardson is a sophomore at Howard Community College.

The match between Duke and Rider was moved to a different location.

Duke's priority is the well-being of student-athletes, according to the athletic director. They should be able to compete in an inclusive, anti-racism environment. Today's match against Rider has been moved to a different location because of the unfortunate circumstances at Friday's match.

Rider and Washington State are also playing in the invitational. On Friday, Duke was beaten by the Mormons.
