Ichiro is a god and idol in Japanese baseball (3:29)

Marly Rivera looked at the impact Ichiro Suzuki had on paving the way for Japanese players to play in MLB. There is a time and a place for it.

It's Ichiro Suzuki weekend in Seattle as the Mariners celebrate the franchise icon and induct him into the team's hall of fame on Saturday night, just in time for him to be elected to the Hall of Fame in a few years. Ichiro was in uniform before Friday's game and he was playing with a young player.

The first pitch is something teams often get wrong with the likes of corporate sponsors and local politicians. The baseball team got it right.

The first pitch was given to "Ichiro Girl", who was known for a video that showed Ichiro chasing a foul ball into the right-field stands and colliding with her. Skinner didn't know Ichiro was going to catch her first ball. She was very happy when Ichiro came out of the tunnel.

The Action Network puts together a daily draft of the best bets on the board. You can watch on the internet.

Good job. It's hard to believe, but the last time the M's made the playoffs was in 2001 when Ichiro won the Most Valuable Player award. The nostalgia for the 2001 team that won 116 games has only grown with each succeeding non-playoff season, as fans have had too little to cheer for. Rodriguez's mega-contract extension is a sign that the fans finally have a new icon for the team to rally around.

Skinner's first pitch was a nice reminder of how fans connect with their teams and players. Hopefully the Hall of Fame ceremony will take place in 2001. There are new memories for fans of the baseball team.
