Curacao celebrates win over Chinese Taipei for LLWS berth (0:40)

The Little League World Series championship game will be played on Saturday. There is a time and a place for it.

3:08 PM ET

A pinch-hit dribbler by Jaydion Louisa in the top of the fifth drove in the only run as Curacao beat Taiwan in the Little League World Series semifinals.

The teams were to play later in the day.

Reangelo got some defensive help as he worked out of a first-inning jam, thanks to a flyout and a ground out. A fly ball was caught by left fielder Jaythan Cordilia in the fourth. He received a hug from the center fielder.

In the fifth, Taiwan loaded the bases on singles, which ended Reangelo's day as he exceeded the 85-pitch limit. Qshondrickson Doran came in with two outs to face Tseng Yi-Che and was able to get him to fly out to the left.

The Curacao outfielders mobbed him after he made a warning track catch on a fly ball off the bat of Wang Yuan-Fu to preserve the lead in the sixth.

There was a goal in the third. Alexander Provacia advanced to second base on a throwing error after bunting. Alexander moved to third on a passed ball and scored on Jaydion's single, a grounder that found a sweet spot between first and second base, to give the visitors a lead.

The island of Curacao has a single tournament title. The last international team to play in the Little League World Series was Curacao, which lost to Louisiana. The 2020 tournament was canceled because of the coronaviruses, and last year only the U.S. teams played because of travel restrictions caused by the swine flu.

Taiwan is one of the best teams in the world. Its last title was in 1996.

Despite the loss, Li Fang-Mo was excellent on the mound for Taiwan, tossing five years of one-run, three hit ball and striking out nine Curacao batters.
