Raheem Sterling scored his first Chelsea goals in his fourth appearance for the club

The 10-man Blues won their first game of the season thanks to a pair of first-half goals by the young Englishman.

The £50m summer arrival's effort looped into the top corner to put the hosts in front 67 seconds after the interval before they doubled their lead from the ball.

A second booking in the space of seven first-half minutes was all that separated the two teams at half time.

The ball was in the net before the break, but it was ruled out by Harvey Barnes because he committed a foul on Mendy.

Barnes got his goal after the Foxes were two goals down.

Brendan Rodgers' side have lost three games in a row since an opening day draw with Brentford.

Sterling inspires Chelsea win

Tuchel had to watch this one from the stands after his sending-off in the tussle that followed the draw with Spurs, but he was enjoying the challenge of building a new side.

One of his new arrivals earned the first win of the season for the Blues.

The home side took the lead with a curling effort that took a shot off the defender and into the net to beat Danny Ward in theLeicester goal.

The former Manchester City winger struck a post moments later from aMarc Cucurella pass, but he did not have to wait long for his second Blues goal, arriving to tap in a delicious low cross from the right from James.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek was denied by Ward when he should have put the home team in front.

After Youri Tielemans hauled Loftus-Cheek down in the box, the VAR ruled that Kai Havertz was in fact ineligible for the spot- kick.

After being booked in the 22nd minute, and then being shown a red card for diving in on Harvey Barnes to stop a Foxes break, there was a lot of chaos in the game.

The answer to any defensive issues is a young centre-back who is currently training with their opponent's under-23s.

The 21-year-old Frenchman was not included in the squad for the game because of personal reasons, with Rodgers saying he trained elsewhere this week.

Thiago Silva helped the 10 men survive wave after wave of late pressure as he showed they can still rely on their experience.

There's more to come.
