According to Brian Windhorst, all three of Cleveland's core players would be off limits in a trade discussion centered on Utah Jazz star Mitchell.
On Friday, Windhorst reported on his Hoop Collective that the Jazz don't have any of the aforementioned players.
They didn't make the playoffs, but they did win 44 games and qualify for the play-in tournament in two years. Koby Altman, the president of basketball operations, is trying to build a roster that can get to the next level.
Mitchell would arrive there.
Cleveland contacted Utah about a Mitchell trade in recent days, according to Ian Begley of SNY.
If you reach out to the Jazz, you'll get the chance to acquire a three-time All-Star guard in his prime, which is rare. Mitchell is the kind of player who can't be found on a small market team.

When he's getting a player who may not be in Cleveland for a long time, trading one of the players would be a big risk. Mitchell wants a trade in a year or two, even though he's under contract for three more years.
There are obstacles to pursue stars in free agency.
The same defensive problems would be created by Mitchell and Garland teaming up with the other players. You're going to have a hard time on the perimeter with your two starting guards.
Cleveland isn't all that attractive from Utah's point of view. In a move of this magnitude, the Cavs may not have much to offer.
The Jazz seem to be going into a full rebuild so this isn't an ideal time to add a young player such as Garland. Garland could be an unrestricted free agent by the time the team is ready to compete again.
Allen will be 25 midway through the 2022-23 season, so he doesn't really match Utah's time frame.
The Cavs don't have much in the way of trade options beyond draft picks. They are not going to get it done.
