In a back garden in Portugal, the remains of a large dinosaur have been discovered.

The owner of the property in the city of Pombal contacted researchers from the University of Lisbon after seeing fragments of bone in the garden.

The bones of a brachiosaurid sauropod have been found by Spanish and Portuguese palaeontologists.

The largest land animals of all time were the sauropods.

A researcher at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon told the website that it is not normal to find all the ribs of an animal like this.

The brontosaurus and diplodocus are two of the sauropods that had long necks.

According to the size of the bones found in the garden, the dinosaur was at least 12 metres high.

Researchers are hopeful that more parts of the same dinosaur will be found after further excavation because of the natural position that the skeleton was found in.

It is thought that the skeleton is about 150 million years old.
