Debby Corwin and her company won the Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the ASTA Global Convention. Advisors can use the toolkit to match clients with resorts.
The CEO of ASTA said that the product was wonderful. It shows how people are always thinking about challenges that they face as travel advisors and bringing solutions to the market.
There is more from the convention.
The ASTA received a record-breaking show of support.
ASTA has new words for advisers.
In 2015, the Dan and Gloria Bohan Foundation and the Society agreed that one person would be selected each year to win the award. Gloria Bohan is the owner of Omega World Travel.
Bohan was asked what inspired her to create the award. She said that getting out of the travel industry has helped fuel her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. She wanted to share that with other people.
Corwin was in a competition. The winner was chosen by the audience on Friday. They were asked to look at a number of criteria.
Corwin was the owner of a Dream Vacations franchise when she decided to start her own company.
She said that finding the right resort for the right client was her biggest problem.
When ASTA predicted that up to 70% of travel advisors could go out of business, Corwin thought that would mean fewer agents to serve more clients. She wanted to make it simpler to pick the right accommodations for clients.
Corwin said that the time saved would allow them to serve more clients and watch their son play baseball.
There are more than 1700 resorts in the database. The site returns a list of resorts that match the client's requirements, ranked by how good of a match they are. It takes less than a minute. Tour operators carry the resort. Agency- branded PDF fact sheets can be downloaded by advisors.
The toolkit costs $12 a month or $13 a year.
Joshua Rome, Runway, and Carrie Wallace were the other candidates for this year's award.
