If you buy music from an artist or their label on its marketplace, you won't be charged a cut of the money you spend. The company used to run the promotion on the first Friday of every month, and that appears to be the case again this year. On September 2nd, October 7th, November 4th, and December 2nd, it has a bunch of Fridays.

93 percent of the money you pay for music on a Friday goes to the artist or label, with the rest going to payment processing fees, according to the website. The rest of the time is an average of 80%. The promotion began in 2020 in response to the Pandemic.

Bandcamp Fridays were MIA for the middle of 2022

A cursory search of my email inbox, archives of the update page for the promotion, and some math show that it has been a few months since the last one. The company was silent after that.

It may have had a lot going on earlier this year. In March, it was announced that it was acquiring the music marketplace and that it would play an important role in the creation of a creator marketplace.

The co-founder and CEO of Bandcamp said at the time that things would stay the same. He promised that they would continue.

I am happy to hear that they are back after taking a break. There are some Manchester Orchestra and Car Seat Headrest albums that I have been looking for, and this is a great excuse to pick them up. Is it possible that you are as well?
