The Department of Justice is preparing a preliminary draft of its antitrust lawsuit against Apple, though it has not decided whether to follow through with the suit, according to a report.
According to a person familiar with the matter, prosecutors intend to file a lawsuit by the end of the year if the Justice Department files the lawsuit.
According to the report, the suit targets Apple's App Store practices as well as allegations relating to the company's hardware.
Following the report, Apple's share price fell 1.1% to $164.11.
The Justice Department declined to comment, while Apple didn't reply to Forbes' request for comment.
The Justice Department's antitrust division has been looking into Apple since the beginning of the year. The Justice Department and Federal Trade Commission filed antitrust suits against Meta and Facebook in 2020 for alleged monopolistic practices. Critics denounced Apple's long standing policy of taking a 30% cut on most purchases made on the App Store, though Apple changed the policy last August amid a high-profile antitrust lawsuit against the company.
