The ex-attorney general predicted that the governor would be elected president in four years.
He is still willing to vote for Donald Trump.
Barr made comments in an interview.
Bill Barr, the former Attorney General, is giving his opinion on the election in four years.
In an extensive interview with journalist Bari Weiss, Barr said that if he had to bet, he would bet Florida Gov.
I've been impressed with Ron's record down in Florida, but I don't know him that well.
His high-profile battles with the Biden administration have made him one of the most famous Republicans in America.
Weiss didn't ask if Barr's predictions were based on Trump not running. During the "lightning round" Weiss has at the end of her interviews, guests have to answer a series of quick questions.
Regardless of whether or not Trump runs, the GOP field could be large.
The governor of Florida is up for reelection in two years and hasn't said if he's going to run for president. Other Republicans in the mix include former Vice President Mike Pence.
Some of the potential candidates were better off than others, according to Barr.
He liked a lot of them. Whoever has the best chance of pushing Trump aside will be my support.
According to Barr, Trump was all about himself and focused on riling up his base at the expense of the Republican Party.
The problem with Trump is that he always runs a base election, whip up his base, get them upset, and turn them out at the polls. Both sides make that happen. There is a prescription for continued hostility within the country, demoralization with the country, and an impasse with the country.
Barr said that Trump had a lot of accomplishments and that he served a "historic purpose" by defeating Clinton.
He was against progressive excess. He did that because people were angry about it and they wanted a no-nonsense person.
If Trump ran against a progressive Democrat, Barr said he'd vote for him again.
He did not like that choice. It's a lesser of two bad choices. I wouldn't say I wouldn't vote for Trump but I wouldn't vote for a progressive Democrat because I don't know what will come out of the investigations.
Weiss asked Barr if he would vote for Trump if he were to run against any of the other candidates.
Barr said that the investigations into Trump, including over documents he held at his Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, could change his stance.
"We need something different moving forward," Barr said, as he described himself as a "traditional conservative" and "Reagan conservative"
He said that Glenn Youngkin, a Republican who pulled an upset victory in his state last year, showed that the GOP is a majority party.
