Delta Air Lines has been trying to steal market share from Alaska Airlines in Seattle for a long time. Seattle is different from most markets in that many locals like to give business to companies that are in their community.
Delta has been trying to appeal to Seattleites in a different way by growing its presence in the city. Alaska Airlines has a partnership with the Seattle Seahawks, with quarterback Russell Wilson being the airline's "chief football officer."
Delta tried to take advantage of Seattle's success. The airline has been giving out "Delta 12Status" since 2016 and it will be back for the upcoming football season.
Washington state residents 18 years of age or older can register for Delta 12status here. If you registered in the past, you have to do it again this year because your registration doesn't stay the same from year to year.
