According to a report from For The Win, Apple has backed out of a potential purchase of the game studio Electronic Arts, with Amazon poised to make an offer.

Apple, Amazon, and Disney are some of the companies that have been spoken to by the company regarding the acquisition. Apple Arcade, the company's subscription-based gaming service that offers exclusive games with no in-app purchases and ads, has had a renewed interest in the gaming market.

Apple would have access to a number of hit gaming franchises, including "The Sims," "Battlefield," "Apex," "SimCity," "Dragon Age," and more.

It would be the largest acquisition by Apple in its history. The largest purchase by Apple to date is Beats. During the company's last earnings call in July, CEO Tim Cook said that Apple is constantly surveilling the market and that he wouldn't "rule anything out."

There is a rumor that Amazon is buying Electronic Arts.
