Park Hyatt is my favorite Hyatt brand because of the value of Globalist status. New Park Hyatts are added in exciting destinations when the portfolio expands.

London is one of the biggest hotel markets in the world, yet Park Hyatt doesn’t have a property there. In 2020 it was revealed that Park Hyatt planned to open two properties in London, which was an exciting development. I wanted to take an updated look at this, as one property is still on track to be a Park Hyatt (though delayed), while the other property will no longer be a Park Hyatt.

Park Hyatt London River Thames: opening 2024(ish)

The Park Hyatt London RiverThames is expected to open as a Hyatt. One Nine elms is a mixed-use skyscraper project currently under construction in London. Real estate is limited in the city and this isn't the most central location for most people.

The development will include a 42 story River Tower with109 residential apartments and the Park Hyatt, as well as a 57 story City Tower with 334 residential apartments The first 18 floors of the smaller tower will be occupied by the Park Hyatt.

There are two restaurants on the ground floor, a spa and pool on the first floor, conference and meeting facilities on the second floor, and a terrace on the fourth floor at the Park Hyatt.

The project is expected to be finished in November of 2023, so I think it will be at the Park Hyatt by the year 2024.

Park Hyatt London 5 Strand: not happening anymore

There were plans for a Park Hyatt near Trafalgar Square. The Hyatt hotel was confirmed in documents filed with the city council.

The intent was for the hotel to be 11 stories and have around 200 rooms. We knew it would be a long time since a building needed to be demolished before construction could begin.

There was an update about this plan recently. The property has just been purchased for over $200 million and will be turned into a budget friendly hotel. This hotel is not close to opening because the opening date is in the future.

Bottom line

London isn't expected to get two Park Hyatts. There is progress on the Park Hyatt London River Thames. The hotel is expected to open in the year of 2024, but I think it will be in the year of 2020.

The property that used to be a Park Hyatt has been sold and will now be called a premier Inn.

What do you think about these developments?
