Vanessa Bryant to Donate $16M From Kobe Photo Lawsuit to Mamba & Mambacita Foundation

The money from the lawsuit will go to a good cause.

Bryant is going to donate the money to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation.

The purpose of the foundation is to create positive impact for underserved athletes in sports. It was founded by the memory of Kobe and Gianna Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash.

Bryant said she was giving the money to the foundation to shine a light on the legacies of her husband and sister.

Our legal system does not allow her to force better policies, more training or officer discipline. The sheriff's and fire departments have the responsibility of those measures.

As a result of the suit, Chris Chester was awarded fifteen million dollars as a result of his wife and daughter's deaths.

Shortly after Kobe Bryant retired from the NBA, the Mamba Sports Foundation was founded. In 2020 it was renamed to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation because of a rising basketball star.

The foundation gives funding and sports programming for underserved athletes to enable them to participate in school and league sports that enrich socio-emotional and physical development.

Bryant won her lawsuit against the Los Angeles County Fire and Sheriff Departments over photos taken at the scene of the crash.

At least eight sheriff's deputy took photos of the bodies of Kobe and Gianna Bryant on their cellphones and shared them with other people. Most of the deputies got new phones after they shared the photos, and the photos had been deleted.
