The companies announced on Thursday that they are teaming up to offer phone service via satellites.
When there is an emergency, the service will be useful in areas with no cell coverage.
The new plan would provide near complete coverage in most places in the US, even in many of the most remote locations, according to the press release.
T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert said at the event that the service is expected to launch next year. He said that text service is the first to be rolled out.
Musk said the new service was intended to eliminate dead zones worldwide. Musk said that his cars would be able to connect to new Starlink satellites that could transmit mobile phones.

The Starlink was set up to give high-speed internet to people who live in rural areas. There are over 400,000 subscribers worldwide and over 2,800 satellites in low- Earth orbit.
The price of Starlink went down in the UK, Mexico, Germany, and the Netherlands.
