The Board of Trustees Compensation Committee agreed to a one-year extension and raise this week for Alabama football head coach Nick Saban.

When the contract runs out, he will be 78 years old, but he made clear that he plans on coaching through the whole deal.

When asked if he would be here for the rest of his contract, he had a ready answer.

Is still alive? In reply, he made a joke. I plan to be here as a coach.

In October, he will be 71 years old, and he said that he still feels good.

I feel like a young man first of all. "Alright, let's clear that up."

I feel like they don't make them like they used to but you have to be flexible. That is one of the most important things about sports. The game is different. The shot made a difference. Either you change with it or you are behind.

The no-huddle changed the game. You're going to get bypassed by a lot of people if you don't study the game and use it to your advantage.

The highest-paid coach in college football is Alabama's Nick Saban, who has an eight-year, $93.6 million contract. Since arriving in Tuscaloosa in 2007, the coach has won six national titles for Alabama.

Some coaches reach their 80s, while others stay aboard well into their 70s. Eddie G. Robinson was 78 years old when he left Grambling. The former Florida State coach left at 80 years old.

It doesn't appear that the dynasty will end anytime soon, as the Tide continue to dominate the rankings.

Last year's winner of the award, quarterback Bryce Young, and edge-rusher Will Anderson Jr., are two of Alabama's top players.

Alabama will play Utah State in the first game of the season.
