The company's next virtual reality headset is coming in October and some of its innovative features were discussed as well.
Last year at its annual Facebook Connect keynote, Meta showed off a mixed reality device called Project Cambria.
As seen by RoadToVR, the confirmation came from Mark Zuckerberg's appearance on Joe Rogan's newest show. The next frontier that Meta will be crossing is along with the October release date.
He told Rogan that there were a few big features for the next device.
Rogan was impressed with how well hisavatar matched his facial expressions and tracked his eyes after using the latest device. This could be a game-changing moment for virtual reality when players identify with their virtual selves.
The Quest 2 headset has served its purpose well, establishing a solid hold on the market and generating unprecedented interest in virtual reality. It is the ideal time to increase the ante with more powerful hardware that can reach higher levels of realism.
fringe technologies are brought into the mainstream by Meta because they have existed but not at a mass market scale. Better graphics performance, brighter displays with MiniLED or MicroOLED technology, improved controllers that no longer need the circular tracking loops, and the ability to replace a laptop computer are all rumored to be features of the Meta Quest Pro.
Neural interface to simplify using augmented reality devices in the future and a discussion of Meta's social media platforms were some of the topics covered in the SpotifyPodcast.
Meta has gone to great lengths to improve its rendering technology and this has allowed the older Quest 2 to compete with newer headsets. It is currently our top choice for a low cost headset.
It will be interesting to see what can be done with the next headset since it is said to cost more than the previous one. It would have been hard to get an advanced headset for that price in the past.
