The price of Ford's major EV, the F-150 Lightning, was raised a few weeks ago.

“Significant material cost increases”

The model year 2022 price is included in the breakdown.

  • Select RWD Standard Range: $46,895 ($43,895)
  • Select eAWD Standard Range: $49,595
  • California Route 1 eAWD Extended Range: $63,575 ($52,450)
  • Premium RWD Standard Range: $54,975 ($48,775)
  • Premium eAWD Standard Range: $57,675
  • GT Extended Range: $69,895 ($61,995)

Delivery and destination fees have increased as well as the price of the vehicle. Customers will pay a lot for the cheapest car.

The Co-Pilot 360 advanced driver-assist technology is offered as standard across all trims. Carbonized gray and Vapor blue are new colors. For a complimentary 90-day trial period, select model buyers can have Ford's BlueCruise hands-free driver- assist feature.

If they don't want it, they will end up with a vehicle with a software block preventing it from being used for hands-free driving.

The price of the extended battery for the Premium RWD model is going to go up. The added range has been increased by 13 miles for a total EPA estimated range of about 300 miles.

Think again if you think that the EV tax credit will help take the sting out of the price increases. The mustang Mach-E is currently eligible for the tax credit, but new requirements that at least 40 percent of its components are made in North America or a US trading partner will go into effect in four years. Under those rules, the mustang Mach-E wouldn't qualify.

The popular EV models are not the only ones to have their prices raised. An analysis of millions of car models found that the price of EV's increased by 54.3% while gas-powered cars increased by just 10%.
