Two Florida residents who stole a diary belonging to President Joe Biden's daughter have pleaded guilty to federal criminal charges.
The two people pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property.
According to the New York Times, Harris obtained the diary in the months leading up to the election and enlisted her friend to contact Project Veritas, which agreed to pay $40,000 for it.
The diary was not published by Project Veritas, but a right-wing news website obtained a copy and published its contents, which did not attract much attention.
As part of their plea agreements, Harris andKurdlander agreed to give up $40,000 to the government.
Harris and her two children moved into an apartment in Florida in July 2020 a few weeks after Biden left the apartment to support her father's campaign. Some bags containing personal items, such as the diary, were left behind by Biden when she returned to the apartment. Harris, a Trump supporter who was short on cash, found out that Biden's daughter was living at the residence. According to the New York Times, she reached out to Project Veritas after finding the diary and making contact with the man. The right-wing organization agreed to buy the diary in September 2020 after it was confirmed to be authentic. According to a report, a member of the organization pretended to find the diary and called Biden to say he wanted to return it. According to the New York Times, James O'Keefe told staff in an October 12, 2020 email that he wouldn't publish the diary because it would be portrayed as a cheap shot. The diary was given to the police.
According to reports, federal agents seized cell phones as part of their investigation into the diary theft. The FBI searched O'Keefe's home and handcuffed him while he was in his underwear.
The New York Times explains how the diary of the Bidens made it to the project.
Biden's diary was shown at the fund raiser. She was called by Project Veritas weeks later. The New York Times is a daily newspaper in the United States.
