New coach Darvin Ham is determined to implement into the defense that ranked 21st in the league last season, that is why he brought with him a well-established ferocity and defensive presence that he knows and loves.
After helping the Minnesota Wolves return to the playoffs last season, he was traded to Utah as part of the Rudy Gobert deal. Sources said that Beverley was eager to join the Lakers in a trade.
Over the past five seasons, Beverley has held opponents to a shooting percentage of 41.9%, second best among players who have defended 2,000 shots.
The Lakers' salary-cap space will be used to remake the roster around two All-NBA stars in the years to come.
The Jazz are moving toward a rebuild. Utah is involved in trade talks with the All- Star guard. Horton-Tucker had a very good season for the Lakers last year.
Last season, Johnson averaged 6.7 points, 3.2 Rebounds and 1.7 Assists.
