The destination wedding market is one of the most successful travel niches. Travel advisers who specialize in the market say their business is doing well.

James Berglie, president of Fallston, Md.-based Be All Inclusive, said that their destination weddings business continued to thrive, so much so that they had to reset their initial annual sales goals. The year has been great for business, and the year is shaping up to be the best one yet.

The agency is having a hard time keeping up with the number of inquiries.

Berglie said that they had to limit the number of new consultations they took and that their team had grown from one agent to nine.

"As the revenge weddings and do-overs from 2020-22 happened, I thought the flow and demand for weddings would slow, but not at all." There are a lot of fall weddings.

As is the case with Be All Inclusive, next year is looking even stronger, so that Kline is not taking on new weddings business until after July 23rd.

She said that she was shocked by the number of requests that were still coming in.

Sally Jane Smith is the president of TravelSmiths.

She thinks that the higher costs of US weddings are one of the reasons. She said that most of her destination weddings clients want at least three or four nights in a hotel.

Venues that cost $20,000 to rent for six hours can be found in my area. There is no Catering or Decor. Our weddings spend between $10,000 and $15,000 and include their stay and many days of events.

Warm-weather destinations are the most popular, according to Smith. She said that Mexico is the best value. The Dominican Republic and Jamaica are both number 2 and 3.

Travel advisors said that part of the booming wedding market is due to the swine flu.

Couples realized that big expensive one day home weddings with strangers is not what it's all about. They would like intimate multi-day events with loved ones.
