It can be lonely for up to a year if you don't start with a bang.

Here are my tips for beginners who want to do that.

You don't have to have an existing audience in order to use this strategy. I think you're starting cold.

The winning blog-launch blueprint

Today we are going to cover a three step plan for the launch of a website.

  1. Cornerstone
  2. Networking
  3. Attraction

Let's take a look at them.

1. Cornerstone: Start your blog on a firm foundation

The cornerstone of your website is your About me page. It is the information that visitors need to get the most out of their visit to your website.

Cornerstone content enhances the user experience and should include the primaryKeywords you hope to rank for in search engines

I used to do a series of posts tied together on a landing page.

Is it a good idea to write this series before your new website launches?

You can, but why don't you just use the website and post on a regular basis? If you want to meet your business goals, you need to start writing.

When you mention the topic of the post in your next article, you should add it to the landing page. You can work on Step 2 at the same time.

2. Networking: Create awareness and form relationships

It's possible that you don't have contact with other content creators in your niche.

Let them know that you have started a website and that you have a cornerstone series. Start leaving smart comments if you don't already.

When you introduce yourself, don't ask for a link or pitch your content. This is not the end of relationship building.

If you annoy these people, you may never get another chance, so make sure you identify potential promotional partners. It is possible that the trust you are trying to build will be damaged.

Don't forget about traditional websites, social media news outlets and email newsletter publishers.

Publishers with small audiences are often dismissed, but smaller communities are more engaged. It's a fast way to get new readers if you reach them.

While you are building your cornerstone series, do this research and outreach.

If you want to show your knowledge and willingness to promote others, you may want to include other posts that link to other sites in your niche.

3. Attraction: The big bang comes third, not first

We came to the big bang, a single piece of content that is designed to get people linking and visiting in large amounts.

Everyone in your niche will want to acknowledge an industry resource that you have.

One of the reasons to focus on research and take your time is that you have figured out which approach has the best chance of success. You won't know much about your audience if you rush your launch.

Why don't you just start the blog with your attraction content?

Successful websites have done so.

But here’s why I advocate this three-step approach:

Your attraction content should do more than just get attention. It should also clearly demonstrate that your blog is worth reading on a regular basis.

To do that, you need to point out your cornerstone content. It is possible to educate people on what it is like to do business with you and how to do business with you.

I mixed in some of my other posts.

There is a 30-page PDF on how to attract links and traffic to your website.

The purpose of Viral Copy was to convince the reader that copywriting skills are necessary to build traffic to a website.

What if people didn't know how to write.

The Copywriting 101 series was pointed towards by viral copy. Every step of the way, the cornerstone set in the first step supports the creation of new content.

A blog launch with a one-two punch

It is possible to take a three-step approach.

Having a piece of killer content magnifies the value of your website.

Links to your attraction content are only one part of the equation.

Links to your cornerstone content will help you rank well in search engines and grow your audience further.

After the buzz over viral copy died down, the links to the Copywriting 101 series kept pouring in.

The attraction content did more than just score links, it sold reading my other content to other relevant Bloggers because I took the time to build a foundation for the launch before focusing on a specific promotional campaign.

This approach requires patience. It took two months from start to finish for Copyblogger to release its first piece of work.

There is no immediate reward for being patient and dedicated to your blog. This is a strategy that may work for you if you want to build authority over time.
