Many makers of headphones have adopted the name "Pro", but few are delivering the audio quality along with it. You will pay $200 or more for sleek designs, better mics, and noise canceling, but both tiers of earbuds use a single dynamic driver. It's similar to buying a sports car and then buying a Cadillac. The bells and whistles are great, but sometimes you want more for your money.
That's why I've been a fan of the Galaxy Buds Pro, which uses a tuning pair of drivers to give deeper bass and clearer highs than its California-designed peers.
New digital signal processing and an even more comfortable fit make the listening experience even better than before. There is a good reason not to be jealous of your friends' elephant-trunked AirPods Pro. They gave their main competitor a run for their money.
What new things are happening?
The ergonomics are the biggest difference between the two models. Many felt that the previous buds were hard to seal, which meant they leaked bass and other frequencies.
The peanut-shaped buds fit me better than the last ones, which means they will work better for more people. After a few minutes of listening, they all vanished into my head.
The color of my review unit is a cute Barney purple, which is one of the three colors offered by the major brands.
The touch controls felt better over time. The play or pause button on the right bud was never activated by my sweaty hair. There are two buttons that are responsive to fingers. If you remove one or both earbuds, they will pause.
New audio options and support for its voice assistant have been built in. You will only be able to use the first two with newer phones and the last one with older phones.
It's nice to have pro features like spatial audio support on the AirPods Pro, which can be used on the iPad. It's not a good idea to limit those features to only one phone, instead of all of the other ones. In testing, the features worked well with support for Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon Music, and others. It was nice to use spatial audio, but not for serious music listening.
When compared to the most recent Google Pixel Buds Pro, which can pair to multiple devices made by different manufacturers at the same time, the new multipointBluetooth offering feels less pro. It's nice for some people, but not so good for others. The 5 hours of battery life from the Buds2 Pro is not as long as the one from the Pro. It beats Apple by one hour.
