Wordle snags a place inside the New York Times Crossword app

Wordle can be found in the New York Times crossword app. The New York Times crossword variant and Spelling Bee are also included. The game can be played on desktop and mobile devices.

After it was released, the word-guessing game became very popular. Wordle was bought by The Times in January. Users began speculating that the game had become harder and that some of their streaks had been ruined. The Times said that the game allowed it to see a jump in new subscribers at its earnings meeting in May and now says that 10 percent of active players have played more than 140 games of Wordle.

The Times has been making changes to the game. The WordleBot was introduced in April to help Wordle players find the best starting words for the game. The company changed the WordleBot's name to WordleBot 2.0. WordleBot was only available to certain people. Wordle will be released as a board game in October by The New York Times.

Integrating the game into the crossword app seems to be an easy way to keep the game in front of interested players, although some are still wary that eventually Wordle or some of its features could end up being paid for by The Times. On the mobile app and website, the game is free.
