Despite Kevin Durant requesting a trade earlier this summer, the two superstars are still focused on winning an NBA title with the Nets.

The Athletic and Stadium's Shams Charania said on The Rich Eisen Show that the only person with the Nets that Kevin Durant had remained in contact with was Kyrie Irving. He was communicating with that guy a lot.

After meeting with Nets head coach Steve Nash and owner Joe Tsai, it was decided that he wouldn't be getting traded. The team said that they would move forward with their partnership.

On June 30th, Durant requested a trade from the Nets and told them he wanted to be dealt in a meeting with Tsai in London. He chose between him and the combination of Nash and Marks.

It's not clear why he decided to change his minds.

Irving created a list of teams he wanted to move to this summer. It was reported that he was very interested in joining the Lakers.

Irving decided to opt in to his player option for the 2022-23 season and is committed to the Nets. The team was told earlier this week that the franchise intended to keep Irving.

When they decided to team up with the Nets, both players promised to fulfill their promises.

Over the last two years, Irving and KD have shared the court together. They didn't bring the Nets to the NBA finals.

The Nets were eliminated in the playoffs. They were defeated by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs.

Injuries and Irving's inability to play in Brooklyn's home games last season due to New York City's COVID-19 vaccine for indoor arenas limited the team greatly.

The Nets should have a good chance of reaching the Eastern Conference Finals if the three superstars stay healthy. It won't be easy with teams like the Celtics, Milwaukee, and Philadelphia expected to contend for a title.
