Meta says it made a mistake when it removed a post about where to get abortion drugs. There is a non surgical option for ending a pregnant woman's pregnancies. According to the post, approved by the FDA for use up to 10 weeks of pregnant women, these medications are highly effective with little risk of serious side effects.
The post was restricted due to violating Facebook's guidelines. The Community Standards help keep Facebook safe and welcoming for everyone.
Michigan has legalized abortion. Meta admitted in June to "incorrect" moderation of posts. After the Supreme Court ruled in favor of abortion rights, the company flagged posts that said abortion can be mailed. Content about the affordability of prescription medication is allowed on Facebook, but users cannot buy, sell, trade, gift, request or donate pharmaceuticals.
