Major League Baseball announced on Wednesday that all 30 teams will play each other in a season for the first time in the interleague era.

The number of times division opponents play each other has been reduced.

Each team will host a three-game series or play a three-game series on the road against another team from the opposite league under the new schedule. Natural rivals will play each other four times, twice at home and twice on the road.

Interleague play used to only involve a single division from the opposite league. Not every team will visit every city every year, but they are all guaranteed a series against the other league.

Three or four games will be played at home and away against teams from outside their division in the same league. The Mets will host the Milwaukee Brewers for four games in June while the Brewers are in New York.

Chris Marinak, MLB chief operations and strategy officer, said in a statement that the new schedule will feature all 30 clubs playing each other. The new format makes it easier for clubs to get into the playoffs as they compete for berths.

This fan-friendly format gives fans the chance to see more opponent matches, with a particular focus on dramatically expanding our most exciting Interleague matches, and offers more national exposure to the star players throughout our game.

The regular season starts and ends in the same month.

There are other highlights.

The Cubs will visit the Dodgers on April 15 as part of a game on the day.

It will be the first games between the Dodgers and the Rays since the 2020 World Series.

The Cubs andCardinals will play two games at London Stadium on June 24 and 25. The game will be held in Seattle.
