Mike Lazaridis stands in front of a few computer screens reading BlackBerry Touch and a larger screen showing a BlackBerry phone.

You read that correctly. At least the memory on the silver screen will be a major feature of the device. This upcoming movie will document the rise and fall of one of the most popular cellulars before the advent of the internet.

The film will feature a cell phone calledBlackBerry. The story will chronicle the rise and fall of the phone and its company after it failed to catch on against the Silicon Valley giants.

According to The Globe and Mail, the story is based on a book written by two reporters. The book chronicles the rocky start and co-CEOs of the Canada-based company, Mike and Jim, as they tried to make the phone popular in the late 2000s and early 2010s.

The phones were renowned for their addictive quality, even though they weren't always successful. Despite advisers' fear of security risks, former President Barack Obama used one during his 2008 campaign. Eric and Kim were avid users of the device, and so were many other people.

The movie is being directed by Matt Johnson, who also directed and starred in The Dirties. Knocked Up lead Jay Baruchel and Glenn Howerton are starring in a film that just entered post production. Both will be playing the founders.

Now that I know which actors will headline the flick, I want to see which one Howerton ends up playing.

After poor sales of its latest devices, the company that licenses the rights to theBlackBerry brand said it would stop selling any and all of its branded devices. That same year, Texas-based OnwardMobility bought the rights to create a new type of phone that would have a physical keyboard. The plans died out along with the company and there was no hope for the classic phone to come back.
