An apparent "swatting" attempt at the Georgia home of a Republican lawmaker is being investigated by police.

The Rome Police Department said in a statement that they got a call about a person being shot multiple times.

Police arrived at the scene and found that they were at the home of the person they were responding to. She told police that there wasn't any evidence of shots being fired.

The Rome police determined that the call was fake and an attempt at "swatting", a type of harassment in which someone calls law enforcement with false information so that armed police show up to their home.

The second call came from the suspect who police said was using a computer-generated voice saying they were upset about Mrs.

The caller is being investigated by the police.
