For a while,BlackBerry phones were the phones to have, used corporate bigwigs and heads of state to answer emails and do tasks they wouldn't normally do on other cell phones The days of those days are over. Film studios want to relive the rise and fall of the company from when it was still known as Research in Motion until it lost its fight against Apple in a movie. The upcoming film that's simply entitledBlackBerry is directed by Matt Johnson and has recently wrapped production.

Variety says that it stars Jay and Glenn. They're probably playing the company's co-CEOs, Mike and Jim. The Globe and Mail reporters wrote a book called Losing the Signal which is the basis for the screenplay. The failed attempts to revive the brand will not be included in the movie since the book was published in 2015.

After the company decided not to renew its contract, the company stopped making and selling the devices. OnwardMobility said it was going to release a 5GBlackBerry phone with a physical keyboard in North America and Europe in 2021. The plans didn't come to fruition. The company shut down in February after losing its license to use the name.
