Meta accounts and Horizon profiles arrive today, freeing Quest headsets from Facebook

There are accounts in the meta. The new login system is being rolled out by Meta. If you don't have the option to create a Meta account right away, you'll get the update soon. You need to register for a Meta account to use your device after January 1st, 2023 if your headset is tied to an account. The new system was announced last month in a reversal of the company's previous stance.

You can still use those services to create a Meta account, even if you don't have a Facebook account. If you have already linked your device to Facebook, you can use an email instead. To use the company's vision of the metaverse, you'll need to create a MetaHorizon profile with a unique usernames.
