According to a new report from The Washington Post, people close to Donald Trump were worried that the former president was going to get into legal trouble before the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago.

Since June, when the National Archives and Records Administration told Trump's team that federal investigators would begin reviewing a bunch of records that were returned at the beginning of the year, Trump's attorneys have worried about a mounting legal disaster.

The person in Trump's circle said that Mar-a-Lago is a problem.

According to a May 10 letter between the National Archives and Tump's attorneys, the FBI was going to get involved with the documents debacle.

After weeks of delay, the FBI will be allowed to review the documents Trump returned to the National Archives.

Four weeks have passed since we told you of our intent to give the FBI access to the boxes so that it and others in the intelligence community can conduct their reviews.

According to the letter, Trump's attorneys asked for more time to review the documents to see if they were covered by executive privilege.

There is no basis for the former President to make a protective assertion of executive privilege according to the assistant attorney general.

The former President's claim of privilege was not honored. I have concluded that there is no reason to grant your request for a further delay before the FBI and others in the intelligence community begin their reviews.

The FBI would raid Trump's home. There were more than 700 pages of classified documents that Trump took.

A person for Trump did not reply immediately.
