An off-duty police officer is fighting for his life after he was savagely beaten by three men believed to be part of a drive-by mugging crew.

The cop was jogging in Soundview when he was attacked by a group of people.

The men fled in a black Honda after beating him.

Police found a bleeding officer on the sidewalk. According to the report, he couldn't stand up, speak or identify himself.

The officer was not carrying identification when he was listed as a john doe. After he didn't show up for his shift, they didn't know who he was.

The officer is in critical but stable condition at Jacobi Hospital after he fractured his skull and was bleeding from the brain.

A source told the Daily News that he was still on a breathing tube.

Police officers in this city are looking for the people who did this to our brother. Patrick Lynch said that they would find them. The rest of the justice system needs to step up as well. This is what happens when our leaders don't hold criminals accountable.

Nineteen attacks in the Bronx in the last 10 days are believed to be the work of the same men.

The trio began their spree on August 1st, jumping out of the four-door sedan armed with pistols and beating pedestrians on the sidewalk. They carjacked 10 luxury vehicles at gunpoint in Queens and the Bronx and ordered one car owner under the threat of death.

The men in the video are believed to be the ones who attacked the couple on the street and then fled.

No one has been arrested.
