A. Voters in Florida rejected the Democrats' change candidate in favor of a potential repeat of Charlie Crist, who was the Republican governor of Florida. Crist was the winner of the Democratic nomination. Insider was told on Tuesday that voters thought a candidate with experience who could unify the state would win the race. Ahead of the election results, State Sen. Shevrin Jones of Miami Gardens said that Charlie had the message, he had the momentum, and he also had the moment right now. There is a response to all of those things. During a speech he gave at a packed campaign event on Tuesday night in Hialeah, the candidate didn't mention Crist. He said that a vote in favor of the Republicans in Florida in November would send a message against the policies of President Biden. Crist said voters want a governor who cares about them, who solved real problems, who preserves our freedom, and not a bully who divides us. Many in political circles believe that the governor will run for the White House in four years. In recent months, Florida Democrats have said that the stakes are high nationally for a candidate who has the support of former President Donald Trump's voters and big donors. Crist ran as an Independent for the US Senate but lost to Rick Scott. He joined the Democrats in 2012 and has been in the US House ever since. Crist's experience in public office made him an attractive candidate. Robert Stephens is running for a seat on the Miami Gardens city council in order to keep the seat he filled two years ago. The housing crisis is at its highest point. Someone needs to be able to get in on day one and do the work. There are restrictions on abortion rights, new rules on voting, and laws that limit discussions on race, gender, and sexuality in classrooms and workplace, among other things. The past legislative session in Florida was one of the worst. We need someone with political experience who can actually get in there and do something and try to save the state because we are in such bad shape. She would have been the first female governor of Florida. Fried positioned herself as a stronger defender of abortion rights when she hit Crist for changing parties. She said during her concession speech that she was not going to give up on the fight. I've been fighting for the people of our state for the entire time I've been alive. During the race for the Democratic nomination, her campaign said she represented something new for Florida, a slogan meant to attract voters such as Roundtree, a motor coach driver in Miami Gardens, Florida's largest majority-Black city. As she prepared to vote, Roundtree said she had experienced Charlie Crist being in the chair. It's time for a new person.Fried promises to keep fighting and unite Democrats
The governor accused Fried of using her time to try to "smolder me on a daily basis" after she criticized him in her campaign.
Fried promised during her speech that she would campaign for Democrats all over Florida.
She said they were going to make Ron DeSantis a one-term governor and a zero-term president.
The power of the state's Republicans is paving the way for a White House run by the party.
In an interview with Insider, Frederica Wilson, a Democrat of Miami Gardens, said that this is the most consequential election she has ever seen. Insider was told before Tuesday's results that Wilson would support whichever candidate won.
Wilson and DeSantis were both in the US House for the same amount of time. She said seeing two different people was similar to remembering him then.
She said that their Florida delegation meetings were always quiet. He didn't say anything. Next thing I know, he's running for governor. I didn't think it was true.
When he ran for governor, he got Trump's endorsement, which propelled him to the GOP nomination. He won against Andrew Gillum by a small margin, but is expected to win by a larger margin in November.
During his speech in Hialeah, he predicted that Florida would have the biggest Republican turnout of all time.
A big win in Florida, which was previously a swing state but is now seen as red by many analysts, would help Ron DeSantis supporters make the case that he could run for president in four years.
She was "petrified" that he might run for the White House because of his policies on education and voting rights.
"I'm concerned about the second term of DeSantis," he said.
abortion rights were important to one voter. It is now illegal to have an abortion 15 weeks into a pregnant woman's life.
She said that they need to get the other guy out. He's insane.
After allowing states and businesses to stay open earlier than other states, a loyal base of supporters has arisen.
Karen Thomas is a voter in Miami Gardens who supports both Democrats and Republicans.
She said that DeSantis reminded her of Donald Trump. He stood his ground regardless of what they said. He stood his ground, not only for the vaccines, but for a lot of other things. He also followed the parties. That is what I enjoy about him. I'd vote for him again.
