Donald Trump was allowed to insult a family member. The former president wrote on Truth Social that the Senate minority leader was a broken down hack for not fighting for Trump's flailing Senate candidates and that McConnell's wife was crazy. McConnell could be forgiven if he defended his own wife. That didn't come to pass. McConnell did not respond to the question if he had any reaction to Trump's comments.
